Emergency Response Information System (E-Plan)
- The nation’s emergency response community needs an information system that can
quickly provide critical HazMat data when they respond to emergencies involving
hazardous materials at fixed facilities, moving hazardous materials,
bioterrorism, weapons of mass destruction, or other unique threats. The
UT Dallas Emergency Preparedness Center (EPC) already has a successful system in operation that can rapidly provide
information for emergencies involving hazardous materials at fixed facilities
and moving hazardous materials. Approved and beginning development is the
ability to supply critical information to first responders regarding bioterrorism, weapons of mass destruction, or other unique threats. This system,
called E-Plan, is field proven and ready to deploy. This is a highly secure
emergency information system that is rapidly accessible, fault tolerant,
disaster tolerant and designed for 99.999% reliability. It can provide
information on chemical, biological, nuclear, and radiological hazards, personal
protection protocols, and effective response techniques.
